True Treasure

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21 NKJV
Last week, we talked about treasure. This week, I would like to continue with the theme. If we ask most people coming out of the Church if they are born again, I believe most would say yes. But, the numbers tell a different story. Only about 4% of the people in America are born again. And, according to the Bible, unless you are born again, you are not a Christian. So, today, let’s figure out if we have the real treasure. Many of us say we are Christian, but our heart is somewhere else. Jesus taught in the above verse that your heart is where your treasure is. So I ask where your heart is? Again, most of us will answer. I am all about Jesus, but is that reality or something we have convinced ourselves of? Today, I like to challenge all of us. Let’s find out where our heart is. If you are trying to lose weight, save money or get in the shape, the nutritionists, accountants & trainer will tell you to start writing down everything you eat, keep track of your spending & make a note of how active you are. In the same manner, for next week/month, start keeping track of how much time you are spending in prayer, reading scripture, and for God. Some of us will be shocked by how little time we give to God. Keep track of how many Sundays you are missing church. Are you part of any prayer group? If not, why not? Are you attending any Bible study? If not, why not? Is Sunday morning worship the only time you spend with God? Lack of time is not a valid excuse Matter of fact, there is no excuse for not praying with a group of believers or for not studying the scripture. I know, I am asking some tough questions, but they need to be asked. I don’t want anyone who is reading this to think they have the treasure, but their heart is somewhere else. Take the challenge, Answers are between you & God. In the end, it will either encourage you to continue or force you to make corrections that you may focus on Jesus ‘ THE TRUE TREASURE.”
