The Faithful Church

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true,”
Revelation 3:7 NKJV

There is no perfect church, but the Church of Philadelphia comes close. Along with Smryna, there is no correction for this Church. After the dead church of Sardis, we see stirring of the Holy Spirit and in Next phase of the church history starts the modern missionary movement. It is during this time we see growth all around the World. The church of Philadelphia speaks of church age from 1800 and in a sense still going on. This movement gave us such men as William Carey, father of the movement, D.L Moody, Hudson Taylor, C.H. Spurgeon. This church was involved in Evangelism and loving the lost. Here are somethings to think about. Jesus has the key to hell. Jesus is the one opens the door & once opened it can never be shut. This also speaks of Jesus opening door for ministry. If he leads & opens the door, no one will be able to close that opportunity( Verse7). Pay attention to verse 8, where it says Little strength It is when we rely on God’s power we achieve much. The second part is They kept the word, They studied scripture continually, and they did not deny His deity. It is impossible to explain verse 9 & 10 in Short devotion but just look at the promise at the end of Verse 10, when we stay in the word, stay true to His name, we will not be going through tribulation The period where the whole world will suffer But those who are born again will be spared.
