We love the promises in Bible and this particular one is so easy to claim. Which one of us does not have desires and if asked to name them, most of us desire the material things such as, home, car, spouse, family, Job, financial security, good health. Today, we are infected with prosperity preachers who love to use these kinds of verses and preach health, wealth, prosperity and many are misled by wrong interpretation. As I understand this verse, when you delight in the Lord, He does not give you desires ( listed above) but he changes your heart and gives you new desires. He does not give you the earthly perishing things but puts new desires in your heart that are in line with His will. You will no longer desire the worldly things but instead, you will desire to spend time with him, instead of watching a movie now you will want to spend time in scripture, attend church instead of watching sports on TV. Do you Understand the point? Sinful desires will be replaced by Godly desires. Our God is always concerned about our eternal life and comfort and we are always looking for temporal things.
