Comfort

11and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me. Colossians 4:10

We live in very prosperous times. Many of us live a more comfortable life than kings of the times gone by. We take for granted such things as running water, drinking water, food in abundance, air conditioning, heating, transportation, indoor bathroom, medicine to mention few, Which not too long ago were considered luxuries and were available to very few selected if to any. We live a very comfortable life and have numerous thingsĀ  available for our pleasure readily; we should be the happiest people who ever lived on this earth, but it is not the case. Anxiety, panic attack, depression, as well as other mental disorder, are multiplying. We hear young children suffering from these disorders and are on medication. Why? I like to suggest; it is because we are trying to please our flesh and have removed God from our world. He is the only one who can truly comfort us. We are trying to find comfort in things which can temporarily ease our pain but to be genuinely in peace; we need Jesus. Paul was in Roman Prison; this was not a jail like what we have today. He was sleeping on the cold, hard rat-infested floor. We would figure, a cozy bed, clean clothing, maybe some warm food would bring comfort to Paul, but NO he says the other believers, bought comfort to him. No matter what prison you are in right now, if you are trying to find comfort in the pleasures of this world, you will not find it. Come and seek comfort from Jesus; he will surround you with other God-fearing people who will comfort you. Those of us who are a follower of Christ, be ready to be used by God to comfort others. Let us keep our eyes & ears open that we may see those who are hurting and need comfort.
