17 Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. 18 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God. Deuteronomy 25: 17-18
I love watching the discovery channel especially when a lion or tiger are out on a hunt. How they wait & stalk their target until one strays or slows down and as soon they spot one that is venerable, they move in for the kill. Amalekites used similar tactics when Israelites were crossing the wilderness. It is so crucial for us to stay in fellowship with believers. Our enemy Satan is just waiting to pounce on us as soon as we stray off course. His only purpose is to kill & destroy. It is so vital for us to be plugged into a church, attend Bible study regularly, be part of prayer group otherwise we find ourselves at the fringe and put ourselves in danger. If you feel tired & exhausted, there is a solution. Isaiah 40 tells us those who wait upon the Lord will not grow weary or be tired but will renew their strength. I urge you don’t be a straggler, someone who is just a bystander, instead, get in the game. Be on fire for the Lord. Don’t just be a casual participant. If you are not careful, you will be running for your life because Satan our enemy is just waiting to devour you. Are you walking with the Lord for a long time and feel like just sitting out and resting? Do you feel you don’t need Bible study or prayer because you are a strong Christian? That is equally dangerous. You see David decided to stay home instead of going to battle and that led him to fall into temptation. No matter how secure you feel in your walk with Christ, we need to remain fully engaged in our devotional life, in our personal walk, in our services for Jesus. Let’s be in front leading not at the back where you can be picked off and killed. Not only will your strength be renewed daily but the arrows of Satan will never reach you in the front.
